Sweden | Life Sciences & Health Mission (Stockholm & Gothenburg)
From the 7th until the 11th of November 2022, the Regional Business Development Network Nordics, the Embassy of the Netherlands in Stockholm and Task Force Health Care will organize an exploratory Life Sciences & Health visit to Stockholm and Gothenburg, Sweden. During this visit, various healthcare stakeholders in Stockholm and Gothenburg will be visited, amongst others, public, private and academic hospitals, knowledge- and research institutes and important health networks.
About Sweden
Sweden is a country with an open and transparent culture that readily collaborates with international stakeholders. As such, universities, hospitals, and the public sector are open and willing to collaborate with international parties, including the private sector. Strong centers for life science innovation can be found in both the Stockholm and Gothenburg region.
With an ageing population and increasing healthcare costs, digital health is a pillar upon which the healthcare system in Sweden is continuing to develop their healthcare system and ensure accessibility, affordability and quality of care. Connected healthcare is one of the focus areas of digital health in Sweden. One of the challenges in the (digital) healthcare infrastructure is the communication and collaboration between regions and municipalities, due to the decentralized nature of care provision. Furthermore, the landscape of hospital build and design in Sweden is rapidly changing. Inpatient treatment is substituted by outpatient treatments and digital consults.
With regards to the elderly care sector, private parties are increasingly becoming involved in the provision of elderly care. Services are outsourced to private parties in publicly-owned facilities. Sweden therefore looks with interest towards the Netherlands and its solutions for elderly care, including innovative living spaces, solutions for staff shortages and preventive measures.

What to expect?
The visit focuses on exploring opportunities and areas for future collaboration between Sweden and the Netherlands in the areas of eHealth, medical devices and healthy ageing.
The program is still under development but will include the following elements:
- Site visits in and around Stockholm and Gothenburg, e.g. to medical universities, elderly care organizations, companies and networking organizations.
- Round table discussions on technology trends and possible collaboration opportunities in themes centered around digital health / elderly care.
- Networking events.
Dependent upon the registrations for this mission, a split program can be organized, with a focus on cure (hospital, primary care, specialist care providers) and care (elderly care, ambulant care providers)

Participation fee
The cost of participating in this exploratory visit is as follows:
- TFHC Partner: €950,- (excl. VAT), per person.
- Non-TFHC Partner: €1.150,- (excl. VAT), per person.
This fee includes participation in the collective program, lunches and dinners when included as part of the program and local support by the organizing parties. This fee excludes travel and accommodation costs (such as hotels, international and domestic transport) and all individual costs, such as lunches and dinners outside the program.
